Abstract The participation of women in scientific research, innovation, and technological development has gained increasing attention in recent decades. Despite notable achievements and gradual improvements in representation, women remain underrepresented in many science, technology, engineering, and mathematics (STEM) disciplines. This paper reviews the current status of women in scientific research and technological innovation, highlighting their contributions, the structural and social barriers they encounter, and strategies to improve gender equality in these fields. The review also examines policy interventions, educational initiatives, and institutional reforms aimed at promoting women's participation and leadership in science and technology. Additionally, the study discusses future perspectives and the importance of inclusive research environments in fostering innovation and sustainable development. Strengthening support systems, expanding access to STEM education, and implementing gender-sensitive policies are essential steps toward empowering women and ensuring balanced participation in the global research ecosystem.
