PHYSICAL EDUCATION AND PEDAGOGICAL INNOVATIONS
Abstract
Read abstract
Physical Education (PE) plays a vital role in promoting holistic development by addressing physical, cognitive, and socio-emotional domains of learning. However, traditional pedagogical practices in PE have largely relied on teacher-centered and drill-based approaches, which may not effectively meet the needs of diverse learners in contemporary educational settings. This chapter explores the role of pedagogical innovations in transforming Physical Education into a more engaging, inclusive, and learner-centered discipline. It examines various innovative approaches, including student-centered teaching models, technology integration, inclusive pedagogy, and alternative assessment strategies. The chapter also discusses the evolving role of teachers, challenges in implementation, and future directions for enhancing pedagogical practices in PE. Drawing upon contemporary educational theories and research, it highlights the importance of adopting adaptive and evidence-based teaching methods. The chapter concludes that pedagogical innovation is essential for improving learning outcomes and fostering lifelong engagement in physical activity.
