Technologies in Education – Security and Innovations
Abstract
Read abstract
The article deals with the issue of the security of educational technologies used in formal and informal education in the context of the increasing digitalization of the educational process. The article aim is to identify the greatest security threats, analyze the readiness of educational institutions for the implementation and use of digital technologies in education, and propose recommendations for increasing their security and synthesize knowledge into an integrated conceptual framework for educational technology security. The article uses the method of analysis of secondary sources from professional literature, the method of content analysis, and the method of comparative synthesis of knowledge. It was found that the frequency of cyber incidents is increasing, with personal data leaks and ransomware attacks being among the most common incidents. A striking finding is that educational institutions have insufficient awareness of security and are limitedly prepared for cyber incidents. The reason for this is mainly insufficient funding and a lack of qualified personnel. The proposed recommendations emphasize the importance of an interdisciplinary approach to education, as well as the development of cybersecurity education in educational institutions. Educational institutions are primarily recommended to use modern solutions such as zerotrust architecture, blockchain, and artificial intelligence. The originality of the article lies in pointing out what educational institutions are currently facing and what forms of protection they should use.
