Artificial Intelligence and Machine Learning for Data Center Operations

Abstract

Read abstract

Artificial intelligence is a technology that became popular recently due to the advancement in how it is used to solve problems. It allows machines to perform cognitive functions like humans because they can perceive, learn, and interact intelligently (Ergen, 2019). This technology has been applied in different spheres of industry to perform work that would have ordinarily been performed by humans and with a lot of positive experience. This research work aims to explore the possibility of adopting this AI and ML technology in the complex data center facilities operations believing it would achieve the same positive result observed in the other industry where it was implemented. XYZ Data Center, a data center hyperscale service provider is the organization used as the case study for this research. A mixed methodology combining both qualitative and quantitative was employed in this research and the data collection was limited to the critical operations team of XYZ Data Center. Data was collected through a survey questionnaire and analyzed to get what serves as the results of this research paper. The output shows the strong belief by the participants that AI and ML would improve their operations. Still, there are some concerns about the readiness of the organization in the adoption of the technology.
